Dr. Anson Gordon Henry was born in 1804, in Richfield, New York. After graduating from medical school, he moved to Springfield, Illinois to begin a medical practice and soon became acquainted with Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln. In 1852, Henry and his family moved to Oregon and he was eventually appointed by President Lincoln as the surveyor general for the Washington Territory.
